Apps Movies Games Books Christmas Holiday Season FEATURED Keeping Busy

Reading seasonal books has always been one of our favorite Christmas activities. Cuddling up with my girls and reading holiday-themed books and eating gingerbreads is one of our favorite things to do around Christmas time. Here are our favorite top five children’s books to read in the next five days before Christmas.

5 Must Read Christmas Books for the 5 Days Before Christmas

1) Love, Santa by Martha Brockenburgh
In this story, a young girl writes a letter year after year to Santa Claus. Each year he sends a letter back. Until one year the girl sends a letter to her mother saying, “Mom, are you Santa?” Her mother writes back and responds with a loving message stating that Santa is more than one person. He’s brought out by kindness and the power of imagination.

2) Dasher by Matt Tavares
Dasher is a very energetic reindeer with one wish in her heart. She spends her life living with her family in a traveling circus in hot weather. Her wish is to be living in a place with snow and cold weather. One day she takes off to fulfill her wish. She finds a name named Santa who in the end helps her change her life forever.

3) ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore
This is a retelling of the classic poem by Clement C Moore. This story also includes a fun image hunt for over 120 items.

4) Little Robin’s Christmas by Jan Fernley
It is one week before Christmas and Little Robin has seven sweaters to wear for each day of the week. He soon meets seven different friends who are all very chilly. To help his new friends he gives each one of them one of his sweaters. This book has a good lesson about the joy of giving.

5) Coming Home by Michael Morpurgo
Robin wants to get home to his friends as fast as he can for Christmas. He is lead by a call in his heart saying, “come home!”
