It’s time that the heat starts to rise and our kids while excited for summer start to get a little antsy inside. With summer officially in full force here in California and the temperatures starting to heat up you can add a few fun DIY’s and activities to your day to keep your kids cool this summer.
- Squirt Guns – I know there’s a lot that kids can do with these toys besides just having fun getting one another wet.
- Water Head – Create a fun and simple water game by cutting a hole in a water bottle. Another child can try to ill the bottle with a water gun. First one to the line wins. This is simple and so fun!
- Create A Water Play Station – Take a large container and fill it with water and different toys. I let our girls add in small containers and allow them to create their own water sensory bin.
- Mud Pies – Probably my kid’s favorite summer activity is making mud pies. We save old plastic containers from food packaging and spoons to allow them to create their own mud pie station.
- Fill The Bucket – All you need is two buckets and kids can use containers to transfer water from one bucket to another. First one to transfer the water wins!
- Water Balloons – These are probably my gardener’s least favorite summer activity but kids love it. An epic outdoor battle with water balloons is something kids will enjoy time and time again!
- Frozen Solid – We like to take a frozen container of water and I put in small toys. Our kids love trying to get their prizes out of the frozen solid water.
- Sponge Toys – All it takes are some sponges to get your kids moving with our simple and fun sponge toysthat you can make yourself.
- Yard Sprinklers – These are so simple and provide a classic summer play. We have a trampoline so our kids love putting a sprinkler under the trampoline for added fun!
- Slip N’ Slide – This classic toy has year after year been a neighborhood favorite. It’s easy to set up and provides endless amounts of fun.
- Frozen Paint Cubes – Make your own frozen paint cubes for painting outdoors. Simply freeze some finger paint and a little water in an ice tray. Simple and easy frozen paint cubes!
- Tin Foil Ice Boats – Tin foil creates the perfect setup for a boat race. Simply take ice cubes and freeze in a toothpick to create a sail. Kids can simply float the ice boats down your tin foil race track.
