Making Fruity Boba At Home

You are here: Home / FEATURED / Making Fruity Boba At Home

FEATURED Fun Foods for Families Uncategorized

This post was created in partnership with Juicy Juice®. All opinions are my own.

One thing our girls love is walking to our local Boba place to have one of our favorite fun drinks. If you have never heard of Boba, it’s a fairly simple drink. In its original form it is a tasty drink served many times as milk tea or Bubble tea. Boba really can be any enjoyable drink with Tapioca pearls on the bottom. It’s just a fun treat kids seem to get excited about and is super popular here in Southern California.

With spring here and in the air, we like to switch it up with some seasonal treats. As we head into spring, we really wanted to have some extra fun and decided to just make or own Boba sweet drinks right at home. We are keeping with the seasonal theme, bunnies! We even made a small Easter egg hunt!

How-to Make Fruity Punch Boba At Home

Ingredients –

  • 1 cup Juicy Juice Organics, Apple
  • 1/2 cup Juicy Juice 100% Juice, Fruit Punch
  • 1 cup Tapioca Pearls (easy to find online and prepare as needed see below for how to make these)
  • Assorted Candy and Fun Toppings

Boba really is a drink plus the tapioca pearls. You can use any drink, tea, coffee, smoothie, anything tasty. There are different ways to consume Boba, being a large straw that sucks up the pearls individually or with a spoon. I recommend the latter for smaller children to prevent choking or inhaling a pearl by accident.

What we love about making our own boba is knowing the ingredients going in. With Juicy Juice Organics and all Juicy Juice 100% Juices, we know we are keeping the ingredients simple. Juicy Juice is made with 100% juice and has no added sugar, no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial sweeteners, the sweetness comes straight from the fruit.  The candy is just for fun (and a great picture!), really just eye candy.

HOW TO COOK BOBA TAPIOCA PEARLS

Tapioca Pearls are fairly easy to make and take about 30-60 mins. Once they are made, they can last about a day. There are also instant pearls available, but I have read they don’t last as long. Regardless these simple gummy -like pearls make any drink much more fun for kids.

Boba originated in Taiwan where it originally was used in pearl milk tea. Boba is a super popular drink available in many places and easy to make at home.

  1. To cook simply boil the pearls, lower heat and stir for about 25 minutes.
  2. Next make a drink base with 1 cup Juicy Juice Organics, apple and 1/2 cup Juicy Juice 100% Juice, Fruit Punch, mixed with 3 TBSP brown sugar or 1 TBSP honey . After tapioca have cooked for 25 minutes, remove from heat and cover for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove and drain tapioca pearls for 2 minutes to let cool.
  4. Add to bowl of drink base and let soak for 10-15 minutes.

We love keeping things simple at our house. So making these is so simple and easy. We let each kiddo make their own drink which I think makes this family activity even more fun.

I think kids love fun activities like this and allowing them to create their own Boba makes this one of our favorite movie night activities. Everyone can pile on the toppings and ingredients that they like most and create their own custom drink.

There are different kinds of Boba so making a drink like this means that you can easily customize the flavor to your liking. Different Boba include features like bursting boba balls, magic pearls and many flavors. Look online for ideas and other kinds of tapioca pearls.

The Juicy Juice 100% juice, fruit punch and boba take fruit punch to a new level. Mixed with Juicy Juice Organics, apple and it’s the perfect springtime combo that makes for a fruity and delicious drink!

You can top each Boba drink with your own toppings. We let the kids pick out their own fruity toppings!

You can top each Boba drink with your own toppings. Our kids have a boba shop they like so we tried to recreate their favorite drink. Wasn’t quite the same but the kids loved making it and enjoying it even more. And we knew they were drinking 100% juice.

Have you ever tried boba or find a really fun boba drink you wanted to recreate at home?
