How TV and Film can help inspire your office

Working behind a desk all day can sometimes get quite frustrating and without regular breaks, lead to a lack in concentration. Working in an office isn’t all bad though, as it’s inevitably better than working outdoors during the colder months, tea and coffee is at hand and more than likely, you have your own personal space to work from.

The appearance of your place of work can often play a role in how productive your day is and your mood from day to day. It’s no secret that if you work in an office with little amounts of décor, dull painted walls and outdated furniture; you’re not going to enjoy work as much, compared to if you were working from a modern, stylish office. Whether you’re a business owner with a large office space and a number of employees, or you’re self-employed and operate from a home office; you may be interested to know how TV and film can inspire the décor and appearance of your place of work.

We all have a favourite film/TV character and depending on the role they play, there’s a chance they may have their own, unique office. By looking at some well-known #OnScreenOffices; you can take inspiration and reflect this in your own office, to create a more appealing place to work.

Choosing the perfect furniture

If you’re a fan of the series, Suits or the popular film Fifty Shades of Grey; you’ll notice that both Harvey Specter and Christian Grey have a big, modern desk as one of the main features within their office. Whether it’s at work or at home, your desk is one of the main pieces of furniture you’re likely to use so it’s worth investing in a high quality one. No matter what style you’d like your office; places like Furniture At Work have a range of desks that will suit any type of look you’re going for.

Adding a personal touch to your office

Hanging pictures and artwork around your office is probably the best way to add a personal touch, as well as adding some colour around you. For any Harry Potter fans, you may have noticed the amount of pictures that have been hung on the wall of Dumbledore’s office. Each one is of a past headmaster/mistress and with this in mind; you could certainly allow this to inspire the décor within your office. Whether it’s company images or family photos, displaying these around the office will add a more personal look to your office’s appearance.

Why should we take inspiration from #OnScreenOffices?

The majority of 9-5 jobs involve working in an office, so it’s important that your place of work is enjoyable to work in. Taking inspiration from TV and film means you can create a more fun aspect to your office and create a more unique appearance, instead of the normal office layout. If you’re looking to give your office a revamp, then Furniture At Work have created a range of floor plans from the big screen, which can be found on their blog.
