One of the things my girls love to do is dance. My nine year old used to be in competitive dance, and for years, she was a full time dancer. Every holiday season, our one tradition is to see the Nutcracker. This year we went to see the Nutcracker performance from our local dance company, and it’s one of our favorite ways into get in the holiday spirit.
That’s why we were so excited to receive an advance copy of Finding Clara from Justice Studios, just in time for the holiday season. The movie features four young dancers as they audition and rehearse for the role of Clara. It’s a beautiful documentary-style film that follows each of the dancers as they perform in BalletMet’s The Nutcracker.
Ballet truly is an art form, and every dancer I know will tell you that ballet is the foundation of all dance. The film does an amazing job following the four dancers that were selected to be the lead in the show as they find their own unique versions of Clara.
The film was created with hundreds of hours in footage shot over the course of four months. All of the girls in the movie are actual dancers, and I have a feeling that girls everywhere are going to love this fun perspective on what it takes to create The Nutcracker.
The Finding Clara film can now be downloaded on Video on Demand on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon for $9.99 purchase or rental (fees may vary). You can also see more at FindingClaraMovie.com.
