This year with trying to live healthier and happier I’m really trying to make changes. In our family we love dessert but I’m trying to teach my family that desserts aren’t always cookies and baked goods. In fact this recipe for baked pears with maple granola reminded me very much of my husband. He loves fruit and passed that along to our youngest daughters. They are fruit lovers so we’re making changes and using our favorite fresh foods as inspiration for healthier desserts. You could even serve this with greek yogurt for breakfast it’s that delicious!
Baked Pears With Maple Granola Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 ripe pears
- 1 cup of your favorite granola (I used a flax & maple one)
- 2-4 tablespoons pure maple syrup
Preheat your oven to 375 degree. Carefully wash the pears and slice them in half. If you like, you can leave the stems on, simply use a pair of kitchen scissors to cut the stem in half lengthwise so each pieces still has one connected. Then use the scissors to clip the inside top part of the stem where it goes down into the core. A small spoon is perfect to scoop out the center core.Place the pears cut side up in an oven safe dish and fill each hollowed out center with a bit of granola. Drizzle the pears with the pure maple syrup.
Bake for about 15 minutes or until the pear skins are turning slightly brown and the pears glossy with pear juice. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
These are soft and delicious and the little extra granola and maple syrup served on top makes it feel like a dessert. Pears are personally one of my favorite fruits and I can see our family making this all year round.
I need to buy some pears so I can get around to making these soon!
