It’s important for all homes these days to do our part in reducing demand on our natural resources. With so many people and the environment under constant strain, we can all make changes for the better. Looking for products that can help reduce resource use and help protect the environment, can also save money on the utility bills.

Shopping with stores like Best Buy will help find appliances and electronics that impacting the environment and its communities less than others. Best Buy has a wide assortment of sustainable and energy-efficient products, including ENERGY STAR® certified electronics and appliances.

ENERGY STAR Certified Electronics and Appliances

While ENERGY STAR certified appliances such as clothing washers and dryers not only save energy, they also save on energy bills and come with the latest features. With advanced features like steaming, low water usage (around 45% less than old older models), and so many others it makes cleaning and drying easier.

Plus, ENERGY STAR products are better on the environment and much gentler on clothes. With so many new designs and a variety of sophisticated cleaning methods, delicate clothing can be lightly cleaned to bulky items getting more attention. ENERGY STAR clothes dryers also use less heat and sensor drying which reduces over drying and extra wear and tear on clothes. Plus, no central agitator meaning better cleaning and less wear and tear.

ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers are 25% more efficient than standard washers. ENERGY STAR dryers are also 20% more efficient than standard models. Leading to a more than $400 lifetime savings and even more with a pair. This could mean $45 a year savings with a new energy star washing machine.

Look for “energy-saving” settings on ENERGY STAR machines and try to use the lowest heat necessary. With sensor dry, no matter what heat, select the correct dryness needed and let the sensor save your clothes.

Over the lifetime of the product, an ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer saves:

  • 1,100 kWh and more than 2.5 million BTUs of natural gas,
  • 33,000 gallons of water,
  • $490 over the product’s lifetime.

If all washers currently being bought in the U.S. were ENERGY STAR certified, savings could be more than $4 billion each year whiling reducing 19 billion pounds of carbon pollution a year. The emissions from 1.7 million vehicles.

Dryers could save more than $1.5 billion each year along with even more pollution with 22 billion pounds of annual carbon pollution prevented.  Equivalent to 2 million vehicles exhausts.
