Our girls just went back to school and we’re already having our first illness. This week my youngest came home from school with a fever and we’re just starting Kindergarten.

It not just about school either. Here in Southern California we’ve had a Hepatitis A outbreak going on. It’s important for us to teach our kids good hygiene habits at home so if we are out they are practicing those same habits and staying healthy and happy.

3 Tips For Preventing Illness When Kids Go Back to School

  1. Practice Good Hygiene – It’s important to teach our children to practice good hygiene. Washing hands is the best way to prevent illnesses.
  2. Help Your Immune System – It seems simple but making sure kids drink enough water and are eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Also sleep is equally important
  3. Have A Plan – Know how to contact your doctor or use a service like the Amwell App. It allows you to easily connect to a doctor anytime day or night. Catching illnesses early is the best way to keep kids from spreading their illness.

When it comes to heading back to school and heading into fall. It’s all about keeping my kids happy and healthy. Teaching them about their health is important and it’s something I want for them to take seriously. Using Amwell over the years we have bene able to easily see a doctor any time of day. Once was for an ear infection another time was because my youngest had pink eye. You can visit Amwell.com to learn more.
