Great Ideas For Halloween – Mummy Dogs With Cut Arms & Legs

Fun Foods for Families Halloween

In October of 2013 my husband helped me with this blog campaign and when I have a campaign I am working on I always bounce ideas off of him. That day I told him I was going to make mummy dogs, you know the old school kind where you just wrap recent dough around a hot dog.

He told me I couldn’t do that he had to come up with my own idea so he took the hot dog and started to create cut arms and legs and then told me to wrap the dough around it. I took photos of his handiwork and I baked them in the oven just like I would the crescent rolls. how to make mummy dogs

They came out of the oven even better than we expected.

MUMMY DOGS RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 6 Hot Dogs – cut with arms and legs
  • 1 crescent roll dough –  cut into lines to wrap
  • olives – for eyes and other details as wanted

Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 13 minutes.

We used some black olives for eyes by cutting twi small holes in the hot dog and then stuffed in a small slice of olive. We made up cute little plates for each of our girls and they enjoyed dinner.

Now my husband had no idea he would start such a big Halloween trend, or that so many people would take his idea as use it as their own. We just wanted to create something fun and special and unique and that’s exactly how we work together. I give credit to my husband Del for creating the very first mummy dogs with arms and legs, and while even professional chefs have tried going on national TV saying this was their idea I know that he created these first. But even better we created lasting memories with our girls and a fun story to tell!

I’m looking forward to remaking this recipe this year, since we created these mummy dogs we’ve added another baby and our girls have gotten older. These really are a fun recipe and are great as we get closer to Halloween.

Wait to see what my husband has planned for the Mummy Dog with cut Arms & Legs remake!!!
