Getting Our Pets Ready For Summer

Keeping Busy

This blog post is part of a paid Megan Media and #PetcoGrooming. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own.

brunoWe spend  a lot of time together as a family. Our pets are very much family, and we spend a lot of time together. Whether it’s outside in the dirt and mud or going for a hike, just like our kids our pets get dirty too.

Bruno is our two year old German Shepard, he’s always so easy going and loves to be anywhere the kids are. He has a lot of hair and it takes a lot to take care of it, so as you can imagine busy life with three kiddos it isn’t always easy to make sure he’s properly groomed. That’s where Petco Grooming is helpful, and since we’re already shopping at their stores for all of our pet needs it’s convenient too. Petco Grooming SalonPetco Grooming offers convenient pampering from Petco Certified Stylists at more than 1,200 locations with a variety of different packages for everything you need to keep your pet happy and healthy. There are also walk-in services like nail timing, teeth brushing and ear cleaning. We sent Bruno in the Petco Groomers needing a bath, but with his long hair and shedding he also needed a good brushing and his nails trimmed. With the heat here in Southern California he’s also losing a lot of hair shedding so getting him groomed is important or else we will have hair all over the house! bruno beforeBruno enjoyed his grooming, he’s such a large dog that most people are afraid of him so he doesn’t get to be around a lot of people. He did really well with the groomers at Petco and they were so gentle and nice with him, I was worried about how he would react but he didn’t seem to mind it at all.

His before and after show how well the grooming cleaned up all that extra winter hair he had been carrying around. While he was being groomed I even had the chance to get my other errands done and he was pretty excited to be there so I left knowing that he was in good hands.
petco grooming before and afterEvery grooming services begins with the 7-Point Pet Care Check: a visual and physical screening that checks for abnormalities on your pet’s eyes, ears, teeth, nose, under-side, skin, coat, nails, and pads. This is very important because as a pet owner I want to know if anything is wrong with my pet and what I can do to help him. The stylists at Petco have years of experience and training, so I know our Bruno is in the best of care!4Also long as he’s happy and healthy that’s all that matters and I’m just thankful to Petco Grooming for not only making our pet happy but for helping our house stay a little cleaner too!

You can learn more and book your appointment today with a Petco Grooming location near you.

Oh boy, do I know all about that! Lol, if you get the chance, check out the post I made on Facebook a couple of days ago https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153855833590888&id=535515887
This is my German shepherd pup, that was outside for a mere few minutes on a bathroom break. While he was out there he dug an extremely deep mud pit, he then ran through it over and over. When I opened my back door, first my three older dogs tried to come in, but he practically mowed everyone down as he charged inside. He was so happy and proud of himself, his tail was just a wagging. As it was wagging it shot mud speckles all throughout my kitchen, dining room and living room. Not to mention what his paws did. We’re also not even gonna mention what my clothes looked liked after I tried to grab a hold of his wet butt when he charged in lol. So yes, there was lots of cleaning. Cleaning my little girl, cleaning him, cleaning my floors and carpets, my kitchen cabinets, my tv, etc etc. And I thought my saint Bernard and all his slobber was messy……..nothing on a German shepherd pup lol.

  13. Connie R says

    07/29/2016 at 2:21 pm

Our jack russell, Sparky loves to always look in our bags from the grocery as he expects a toy to be found. We buy him a toy about once a month because as soon as he has a new toy it is torn to shreds with all the stuffing all over the house. So once a month is enough to clean up after him, but he has such a good time.

Once we got a free bag of litter attractant and we were using it to train a new kitten to use his box (he didn’t really need the help, but it was free…). We went out one day and came home to find he’d torn into the bag and spread the contents all over the bathroom floor. It looked like a kitty version of Zen sand gardens.

A messy moment every day, Jadarose goes on a walk to the local park with Rusty and myself. We walk several times around the lake..at the one corner of the lake Jadarose pulls until she gets run and lay in the mud. I have given up trying to keep her out of it, i shaved her down, she is a pomeranian and when we get home I put her in the kiddie pool to lay down, this cleans off the mud.

I’ve always been a cat person and till this day I still am. But I did own a dog name Collie. She was the smartest dog I’ve known. I got her when she was full grown. She understood my commands and always like to give me a handshake. She would always protect our house. Unfortunately she got very sick and we had to stop her suffering. Till this day she was the sweetest dog I’ve ever known and till this day I miss her very much.

  25. Laurie Emerson says

The messy moment was last week. Our puppy Rusty was playing with his chew toy that he loves. He had it in his mouth and decided to shake it from side to side. It flew out of his mouth, hit the coffee table which had drinks and chips on it. The toy landed right in the middle and everything went flying as well.

When I had my collie puppy several years back he spent what we considered a longer than usual amount of time teething. He had decided that the rawhide and the bones we were giving him weren’t sufficient so during the course of the night he had chewed the edges of the wooden cabinets, the rungs of the chairs, pulled the rubber coating off the baseboards, and shredded the edge of the wallpaper. Needless to say it was a big mess.

Hmmm a messy dog moment….Well we live on beautiful Oahu, Hawaii and love to go hiking with our whole family, our 1 year old Yorkie mix included. A few months back we decided to do a hike called Mauana Willi Falls just after a big rain so it was, of course, EXTRA muddy. Our little 6 pound black puppy ended up completely covered from head to tail (same as the rest of us)! I think I was even muddier after the bath I gave our Zoey. 😉
