Fueling Our Summer With Milk

Kids swimming in pool on floatWith summer in full effect here in southern California our kids are finding plenty of things to do outdoors. Plus it being so hot we are spending more and more time outside and since the kids are out of school we have all the time for summer play days. A lot of people have pools here in southern California and with temperatures above 100 degree we’re spending a lot of time in the pool.
When I think about my favorite summers growing up I always think back to hot California summers and spending a lot of time swimming in the pool and playing with my sisters. Our younger girls are very close, if you ask them they’re best friends and they literally do almost everything together. Brooklin learned to swim by herself when she was three, she just jumped in and started to swim so I have loved getting to watch her to try teach her little sister how to swim. In Mia’s eyes she wants to be exactly like Brooklin so I know that they don’t know it yet but they’re hours of playing together really is creating lasting memories that each of them will never forget.Kids swimming in poolWe try to eat healthy and live an active and healthy lifestyle. I always want the very best for my kids so when we have long days of playing outdoors I have to make sure that they stay fueled and ready for more tie at the pool. Our girls love a cool glass of a milk on a hot day. Whether alongside lunch or just as a refreshing snack each 8-ounce serving of milk provides 8 grams of high-quality, natural protein. Kids drinking milk

Help Your Community This Summer!

Although some programs like the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program help to deliver meals when school is not in session, the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program do not reach children during the summer months. That’s why food banks play an even more critical role in helping children access nutritious foods when class isn’t in session.

You can help feed children right in your community this summer with a small donation at milklife.com/give. We encourage your family to give back too if you’re able to and you will help fuel a summer of great childhood memories for a kid near you with the Great American Milk Drive.

Share & Give

You can also give back easily for free, with each share of Great American Milk Drive “Feed A Childhood” content with hashtag #milkdrive via Facebook and Twitter between now and 6/30/16, The Great American Milk Drive will contribute $1 to the Feeding America® network for the purchase of fluid milk, up to a maximum total donation of $5,000. So share this post with #MilkDrive and Milk Life will donate $1!

Child hunger and food insecurity is so common and so many people don’t even know. Some of the schools in our area have school lunch programs open during the summer months on certain days. That way kids are guaranteed a meal a few days a week. I’m glad that you are raising awareness for child hunger and letting us know how we can help. I will definitely be buying some milk to support Feeding America!

I always think it’s fantastic when big companies donate. I know a lot of them do but I think a lot of places don’t also. I’m so glad to see that this company keeps those of us that don’t have business thinking we can do in order to make a difference in peoples lives also.

I fuel my summer with milk by making milkshakes and frozen pudding pops for my granddaughters. They love them and I’m happy that they’re getting extra protein for their growing bodies.
