I customized my coffee using Folgers®, as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #MyIcedCafe
My days are busy, from sun up to sun down there’s something that has to be done. With the kids out of school and summer in full swing it’s even harder for me to find moments during the day to just breathe. Some days it feels endless, endless messes, endless laundry and dishes and over time you find yourself more and more unhappy.
The key to being a fun and strong mom is also being a happy mom. Showing my daughters happiness and resilience so that they too can learn and grow in to happy, healthy adults. Over time there’s some things I’ve learned and taking care of yourself is the best way to stay happy and be able to do it all for your family.
3 Simple Tips For Guilt Free Me-Time
- Keep It Simple – Whether it’s writing in a journal and enjoying a cup of coffee find those simple moments between the chaos for a moment for yourself. Allow yourself to recharge and connect with whatever it is that’s happening in your life. Indulge in things you might enjoy like your favorite dessert.
- Find A Hobby – Some people enjoy exercising, it’s quite a freeing time that’s really rewarding. Find something you really enjoy doing by yourself and start a few times a week.
- It Takes A Village – Grow a network of friends and neighbors. Allow your children time to play and sneak in those few moments for yourself. You might be able to get in a date night or two this summer with your husband!
One thing I am fond of is coffee. There’s something so simple and relaxing about having a few moments to enjoy an iced coffee. Folgers® is making iced coffee easier than ever with Folgers® Iced Café. Dessert goes great with coffee and mini chocolate donuts might be one of my favorite desserts. They’re small enough to just have one or two and not feel guilty and yet they’re delicious and just the right size.
Chocolate Cake Donuts Recipe
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 3 tbps butter (melted)
- vegetable oil for frying
To make in a bowl mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. In another small bowl start with whisking the eggs, sugar, buttermilk, and melted butter to blend. Stir ingredients together until well blended. Then place in the refrigerator and chill until cold, at least 1 hour. To make roll out donuts on a floured surface and heat your frying oil to 375 degrees. Place each donuts in the oil one at a time and flip when the cake becomes fluffy. Allow the donuts to cool for 5-10 minutes. You can always put on a chocolate or sugar glaze over top. I think they’re delicious just plain and make for the perfect me-moment. In fact pair them with Folgers® Iced Café for the perfect mini pick me up. I really like taking those simple moments for myself. Even if it’s only 15 minutes it’s just another way I take care of myself and take care of my family. What I like best about Folgers® Iced Café is that it’s portable and convenient and ready to take anywhere on the go. Just mix with milk and you’ve got a delicious cup of coffee.
