  1. Our Shared Interests – I love to dance in fact twice a week I am in the studio working hard as a dancer. That shared interest gives me an easy outlet to connect and that shared interest inspires passion in myself and my girls.
  2. Value of Hard Work – Every dancer starts with their first class. If you want to become graceful you must work for it. It’s mentally and psychically challenging. You must train and train and put in time and if you really want it you work for it. No matter what my daughter does in life I want her to work hard at everything she does. This skill will help her throughout her life.
  3. Discipline – Ballet classes are very strict, you come to class prepared and uniformly the class works on techniques at the barre. There’s no room for daydreaming and misbehaving.
  4. The Value of Persistence and Patience  – Dancers are so graceful you see them easily flip and spin and realize the time and effort it took to become effortless. The truth is hard work does pay off and when I see my daughter finally nail something she’s worked hard at she understands the same value.  Every dancer starts at the beginning with the same basics taught for many generations of dancers. You start with proper technique and then you can make it your own.
  5. Dreamer – Ballet teaches you that if you work hard at something you can do anything. It teaches you that you should never give up and push forward. It teaches poise and grace and that no matter how many times you fall you get back up and keep moving forward.

Great post. You are right – There are so many facets of ballet class that will serve dancers well in life. My dancer loves dance and has such a great respect for her teachers and her peers. They work hard day in and day out.
