    I usually use vinegar or Dawn detergent and lots of elbow grease.

    Usually the spots are from the animals, so we use a pet carpet cleaner.

    Having a 6 year old son, a husband, a Boxer and a Hedgehog in the house we get carpet stains lol, we recently went with a darker color carpet to try to hide some of them but for the really bad ones I use Scrubbing Bubbles foaming bathroom cleaner and warm water.

    I dry the stain up with a rag, then rub with water, spray with resolve, blot with water and dry.

    We actually use spot shot. My mom used it for years and it always worked so now we use it in my house. Then I hit the area with the steam cleaner.

    I try to use a big steam cleaner with cleaning solution once I have enough bad spots. I’m really bad about getting down and scrubbing one spot at a time.

    I blot out the stain if it’s still fresh, then spray carpet cleaner on it and scrub, then vacuum it.

    I haven’t found a carpet cleaner that I love yet so I’d love to try spot shot. I usually do the old fashioned scrubbing and then use the steam cleaner but I think we need a new one because it hasn’t been working that great lately.

    The last stain was a scented oil and i used baby powder to lift it until it was nearly gone! Then I just used a little pet spray that I had.

    If I need to get a stain out of my carpet I usually put cold water on the stain then use some sort of stain remover – LOTS of scrubbing. Never and easy or a fun task 🙁
