We were provided with a complementary stay.
Nestled right on the beach near Monterrey California is Carmel, California. Carmel By The Sea is one of California’s greatest small town treasures and we were so excited to have a chance to check out the area. It is about 320 miles northwest of LA and a little over 120 miles southeast of San Francisco, CA. Its a easy drive from either direction and has so much to offer with Monterey Bay being in the area.
On our trip we stayed at The Hofsas House a boutique family-owned inn with 38 uniquely decorated, spacious rooms, many with ocean views overlooking the pines in the village. We checked in and had a beautiful room with plenty of space for our family. The kids had their own separate room and bathroom and it was nice being able to have our own space away from them.
Breakfast is served each morning in the lobby and you’ll enjoy some beautiful artisan pastries and coffee. There is also yogurt, cereal and juice for the kids. We brought back our meal and drinks to enjoy on the patio. The weather is so temperate that we could enjoy breakfast outside in the morning. It was nice waking up to a great view and nice weather!
We were also greeted with cheese and wine to start off our trip in a light noete. It was nice to have a romantic feeling while the kids were able to keep busy with themselves. And with the freedom to enjoy a glass of wine on the beach we made use of it!
And for enjoying the beach the camp fire and beach kits was great. We had a firewood bundle and everything to start a fire. Plus some things for the beach. You can take the kit down to the beach at night and enjoy a cozy fire, there’s everything you need to start the fire and enjoy some sweet treats on the beach right inside the kit. There are also rules for where fires are permitted. Fires must be extinguished by 10:00 pm and at least 25 feet from slopes. Check out all the rules here.
There were two bathrooms in our room and both were plenty big enough for our family. It’s important to have a spacious bathroom with spending time at the beach during the day. No one got in the way letting us start our days ready.
Our room had such a beautiful view towards to ocean and being in a wine country there’s plenty of spirits to be enjoyed with beautiful sunsets. You can enjoy a glass of wine on the beach or hit the town and find one of the many fine restaurants.
The Hofsas House Hotel also has a beautiful pool which is great for the kiddos and swimming. The pool is heated year round making it usable year round. Most places do not have a pool so if you need a location with a pool the Hofsas has a nice one that is deep. You can also enjoy the pool and night and since it’s heated you never have to worry about it being too cold.
The Beach With kids – Carmel By The Sea
Carmel By The Sea is such a beautiful small village you can easily access the beach or shop around town. The walk is about 10-15 minutes from the Hofsas house to the local beach area. And less than 5 from shopping and fine dining. Pebble Beach is also located close by so we check out the Pebble Beach 17 mile drive which is a great way to see the coast with many great scenic stopping points. We also had a great time exploring the small village of Carmel.
We also had to spend some time in the sand and the beaches have such beautiful sand! Our girls had so much fun playing in the water and building sand castles and we all had fun just running around. The sunsets at night were equally as beautiful as the sunrise in the morning.
The Hofsas House is located three blocks north of Ocean Avenue, eight blocks from the picturesque white sand Carmel beach and one block from a child-friendly City park. There is plenty of off-street parking and guests delight in walking everywhere in Carmel from the inn.
What a beautiful vacation spot. I’d love to go sometime.
