We Moved To California!!!

You are here: Home / Everything Disney / We Moved To California!!!

Everything Disney Our Family Journal Uncategorized

movingAt the end of last month we moved from our home in Oregon to a new home in California. While we had been waiting to move for quite some time the move undoubtedly came at the perfect time.

Living in Oregon you get used to the rain but after 10 years of being sopping wet I decided I couldn’t do another winter of gloom. Growing up in Southern California I spent summers on the beach. While I enjoyed hiking and the beauty of summer the winters were really hard. Not on just me, the kids too. We are a busy and active family and yet we would find ourselves cooped up at home throughout the winter so I’m glad we are here and settled. The weather is truly beautiful and we already have our Disneyland season passes!

When we moved we packed an entire 26 foot truck. I thought we would have plenty of extra space but we packed the truck and then some! Who knew we had really gathered that much stuff?

Each of our girls finally has their own rooms. Since they are all different ages and on their own schedules it’s been important for us to get ea ch of them settled into their own spaces. It’s hard to beleive Kaila is getting so big and that her room is fit for the growing young lady she is.

Since our new home is much much larger than our last we now also have a family room. We bought our old sectional couch years ago and shortly after having our second child we knew that the color choice was bad. The fabric was all wrong and the style no longer fit who we are. So together piece by piece we have picked the perfect items for our home.

My favorite has been being able to decorate the formal living room. We walked into a furniture store a few days ago and right away I saw this chair.

How could you not love this chair? My husband spotted an emerald green couch with a similar style to another one I had seen and liked. In the center of the couch was this green downed pillow. I was sold from that moment!

We finished the room with a gorgeous large oil painting. We call it “the rainy city” and it’s a beautiful piece of art.

We’ve gone room by room finally making our new home feel like home. We still have to finish the dining room which we will do next week and then we can get back to family mealtime at the table. It feels so wonderful to be here and be together. Moving is never easy but we’re finally getting settled into our beautiful new home!

Wow I’m surprised….when most people move out from Cali, they don’t come back….how ironic that I’m trying so hard to get into Oregon!!!

Congratulations! As I write this it’s cloudy and in the low 40s where I am….as a native Californian I can totally relate to wanting to get back to the Golden State!
