Getting Ready For Another School Year #KidsGotStyle

I can hardly believe that I have a third grader! Kaila is quite the accomplished kid not only is she excelling in gymnastics out of school, but her high math and reading scores are a great way to start the school year. I look back at the past years and my previous anxiety about her growing up has started to relax into an easy flow. As a mom with a child in elementary school I want to be sure she is as healthy and as prepared as she can be.

Now that we are starting to transition from busy summer days to busy school days we are starting to prepare in many ways. I’ve started back with the early bedtime routines and making sure we get in plenty of extra summer reading. Since Kaila is getting older and she has her own style I’m also allowing her to shop for her own items for back to school this year.

Kaila really can’t get enough of Monster High maybe she’ll grow out of it in this coming year but right now she’s loving that 80’s neon. Living in Oregon it rains – a lot! Every girl needs a stylish umbrella and lunch tote. Inside the lunch tote this year I’m going to be doing bento more often and I found some adorable sets at Target for a great price. In fact, this year we’ll be shopping Target for all our back to school needs and everything you see shown here is from Target!

Last year it felt like all we did was fight about clothes so I’ve embraced allowing Kaila to purchase and pick her own outfits. She fell in love with this jean jacket at Target last week so we scooped it up but there are so many great styles for her to pick from. Right now Kaila is all about neon and tie died shorts. Of course there her love for the jean jackets and shirts and bright colored skinny jeans. Kaila also liked to be casual with printed tees and casual skinny jeans. Last year she was obsessed with boots and I’m sure this year she will find another pair to love.

As a mom of three girls going back to school reminds me of my own life growing up. I loved shopping and so do my girls and having fun with fashion is something we enjoy doing together. Some days I want to pinch myself – I’m the mom of a third grader!! Who’s starting to find out who she is and what she likes and here I am just loving every moment of it! On the first day of school I’ll kiss her goodbye and I know that no matter what the school year brings she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. It’s my job as a parent to help prepare her and she’s almost ready to start another successful year!

What is your kids style? Are you starting to shop for back to school too? How are you preparing your children for school?

I don’t even know how to describe my daughters style. Maybe unique. She runs the entire range from frilly dresses to sweatpants. She just goes with whatever strikes her fancy. I have learned to pick and choose my battles. We are almost completely done shopping for BTS. Thank goodness. Now we are working on trying to get back to a semi normal bedtime.

Yes, we’ve done some back to school shopping, mostly clothing. My grandson is constantly outgrowing sizes so he really needed new clothes anyways!
