Fun Foods for Families Lunch box school lunch ideas Uncategorized

I enjoy watching other chefs cook in the kitchen and especially when there are a few of my favorite chefs! The Chew is one of those shows I really enjoy watching, from helpful kitchen tips to recipes for incredible meals and desserts The Chew is one of those shows I can really indulge my inner food in.

Inspired by a recent episode where Carla Hall makes one of her recipes I really wanted to try and recreate her Summer Berry Pudding. You can watch the video show to and a clip from the show below:

This video was really great because I was easily able to follow the directions myself and make this recipe. There are so many great recipes ideas I’ve found by watching shows like The Chew and I really like how simple and family friendly a lot of their chefs recipes are. They make this ordinary mom feel like quite the chef!

I started first by combining the berries and adding sugar. As Carla suggest in the video clip you can use any berries you have on hand so I used a nice mix of fresh berries. After adding sugar I then squeezed one half a lemon over the mix. It’s so simple and yet so complex and the lemon really makes it unique.

After cooking my berry mixture over a medium heat until the berries started to pop I started to prep my white bread squares. Adding fresh organic strawberry jam on each peace I lined them around a bowl. You’ll want to make sure there is saran wrap under the white bread.

Simply pour in the berry and sugar mixture and layer with more white bread.

After covering the top with saran wrap and following Carla’s directions I allowed it to sit in the fridge overnight. In the morning I simply flipped it over on my serving dish. Serve with freshly made whipped topping. It’s such an affordable and easy dessert idea for the summer!
