The Secret To Movie Night – Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn Recipe #PopSecretMovieNight

Fun Foods for Families Lunch box school lunch ideas Uncategorized

The easiest way to enjoy time with your spouse is to make time. I think movie nights provide my husband and I with the opportunity to spend quality time alone. Whether it’s a scary movie or something more family friendly we enjoy watching movies, especially with our 3D TV!

My biggest secret to having thee perfect movie night is in the food. A great popcorn like Pop Secret popcorn is the way to go. I purchased some of our favorite popcorn flavors and decided to make this decadent and yet incredible caramel popcorn.

Sea Salt Caramel Recipe – Recipe adapted from Chef Pierre Fauvet

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup organic light corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. butter (unsalted)
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tbsp coarse sea salt
  • 1 bag of Pop Secret Kettle Corn Popcorn

Pop one bag of popcorn and lay it out on a baking sheet. Make sure you have something non-stick under your popcorn.

To make the caramel:

In a medium saucepan bring sugar, evaporated milk, and heavy cream to a boil over medium heat. Add corn syrup and continue cooking until it reaches 230 degrees. Add butter and vanilla and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until caramel reaches 240 degrees. Remove form heat and stir in salt.

Drizzle slightly cool caramel over popcorn and then sprinkle with salt and allow to cool. I also mixed the popcorn in the caramel and it was so buttery and sweet. It was a delightful and gourmet touch to our movie night.

At Pop Secret, we love movies as much as you love movies. So we’re on a mission to make movie watching and popcorn even more social and fun. We’re sharing a bunch of apps, tools, and fun partnerships with everyone over at our hub, Pop Secret Labs. Keep checking back to try ‘em all out and give us feedback. The more you get involved, the better all of our movie experiences will be. See you there!
