To My Daughter, On The First Day Of Second Grade

Our Family Journal Uncategorized

My sweet Kaila, you’re now a second grader!

All summer you’ve been all bubbly about second grade and now the time is finally here.  You’re going to learn a lot of new things this year. My favorite memories of second grade were learning about dinosaurs, the computer lab where I first learned to type, and Dragon Reading. I liked Dragon Reading because I got a chance to read with my buddy, an older student form my school. You’ve had a few buddies last year.I think my real love for reading came in second grade when I finally was a confidant reader.

Speaking of reading, I can’t believe how good of a reader you are. You may actually be reading these words I write you.

This year you’ll grow a little taller, maybe – shorty!  It feels like you’re finally growing up. You’ll learn a lot more about the world this year.  You’re such a good sister and friend and I can see you having the best time in second grade. I know that no matter what you put your mind to that you can do anything. Don’t be afraid to raise your hand in class you are smart and strong and there’s always a chance to keep growing. You’re in second grade!!

My oldest sweetest daughter.

I love you babe.

-Mommy
