Exploring Astoria, Oregon

Family Travel With Kids Our Family Journal Uncategorized

We have family who live out near the Oregon Coast so we’ve had a fun time exploring the area in which we live. We live 90 miles east of the Astoria and we always enjoy spending time out at the beach. My husband and I actually went out by ourselves and got some great shots of the Astoria Column. You can walk all the way to the top of the column during the day. Since you’re at the coast there’s a lot of fog so I just loved these shots of the column with the fog.

The next morning we decided to take the girls down by the bridge and watch the ships come in. See huge cargo ships enter the Columbia River and ride all the way up to Portland. You’ll often see large Alaskan cruise ships too, I hope one day to take one of those cruises!

There’s a trolly that runs along the waterfront.

The memorial stands under the bridge.Astoria was founded hundreds of years ago so it’s neat to see such an old ocean town with deep roots.

The girls enjoyed looking around and seeing the giant bridge. Since Astoria has deep roots also in fishing you see reminisce of old and new fishing grounds.

We also happened to snap a quick and rare family photo of us all.

Astoria is such a beautiful place and we can’t wait to share more about this magnificent pacific northwest city.
