Our Family Journal Uncategorized

All summer we have enjoyed swimming. I watched as Kaila, my oldest daughter went from being scared and unsure in the water to confidant and strong. The Olympics this summer came at a perfect time. Kaila loves gymnastics and we have enjoyed watching the different events. I think the best thing about the Olympics is how it inspires children. That with hard work and dedication they can do anything. My 7 year old not only wants to be a gymnast but she also wants to be a swimmer.

Today my 7 year old daughter believed that she could do anything. She finally swam by herself in the deep end. She’s been working on it all summer and here she was finally doing it. She turned to me and said “One day I could be in the Olympics mommy!” Tears came to my eyes because in her eyes I could see it, she had done something she had been trying so hard to do. She believed in herself enough to make it happen.

And because every aspiring Olympian needs a treat to keep them going, we celebrated this achievement with ice cream!

Kaila did it!!!
