Fun Foods for Families Uncategorized

My girls just love King’s Hawaiian so we were thrilled when we found they had expanded their products to include hamburger and hot dog buns. In fact, they added mini sub rolls and sandwich buns too! We usually snack on the rolls so I wanted to create a recipe that would work well with the hamburger buns. Luckily for me, we’ll be eating these burgers during tailgating season which is finally upon us! I have to say I don’t how exciting of a game there has to be good food to go with it. In fact, all my best memories center around good food and I know my home game guests will love these burgers! Ingredients For Grilled Pineapple Salsa:

  • 1 pineapple
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup of cilantro
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 jalapenos
  • 1 Serrano pepper

I literally rough chopped the pineapple and bell peppers and put them on the grill. Once they were chard a little on each side I took them off the grill and allowed them to cool slightly. While this was happening I simply grilled some organic chicken breasts. I put a little of my favorite seasonings and some cumin on the chicken. After the pineapple and peppers had cooled I simply chopped everything into small pieces. I used three peppers and it was slightly spicy and yet sweet too. The perfect blend but you could easily adjust this recipe to your own taste. I really loved the salsa as a topping on a burger. I think what made it truly unique a memorable was the Kings Hawaiian bun. It’s such an easy and yet unique burger idea and would be a hit for any game day. You could make the salsa ahead of game day and simply grill some breasts add the bun and you don’t need all those extra condiments. It’s so easy yet seems like such a complex burger. My kiddos just love the hamburger and hot dog buns from Kings Hawaiian and I think they made this burger so special. The spicy and sweet salsa went really well with the sweet buns. For game day it’s a no brainer recipe!! By far my favorite moment of game day is the food and time with family and friends.
