Slow and Steady

Our Family Journal

For 9 months I wished I could run so I told myself when Mia came I wold finally be able to run again. A few weeks after her birth I started walking again. It wasn’t fast at all I think I was at 18 minute miles but I knew I had to start somewhere. I quickly found that the more I walked the better I was able to jog. I recently started full on running again. I can run a mile anywhere between 11-13 minutes.

Last week I decided to put my body to the real test and actually run on the street. When I started my love for running I was running around my upscale suburban neighborhood and now  I’ve been running and walking on a treadmill. After the first mile it occurred to me, the ability to actually lift your body off the ground over and over again for prolonged periods of time is actually really hard.

The way my feet beat the pavement and my arms swing from side to side with the beat of the music is all still the same though. It reminded me why I loved running so much in the first place. My goal in the next 3 months is to do more street running, it challenges my body in a whole different way.

Slow and steady.
