Fun Foods for Families Our Family Journal

I always wanted a house with a yard that was large enough for me to grow a garden. I finally have that home and we finally have our very first garden! I had no idea how to garden or what I wanted but after having our garden growing for some time now we’re starting to learn more about it. Our garden has many things, the mini baking pumpkins will hopefully come in fall. Our neighbors have said they didn’t have much luck with pumpkins but I’m hoping our luck is better.

We’ve already started picking a things like strawberries which come every few days. Our sweet peas were also picked last week and two heads of cauliflower have already been taken out.

I was really excited to see the cucumber!

The cauliflower!

I just love the squash which is popping up all over!

The lettuce has been the most used food from our garden. Mostly because it has totally taken off and we’ve had it grow back really fast. The butter lettuce is so fresh and good tasting that I’ll be really sad when it does off this fall.

Our garden also has plenty of our favorite fresh herbs and we’re also trying to grow some hot peppers. We’re learning as we go and we’re already so excited by our finds. I think a parent it’s really great for my children to see how food is grown and they’ve had a great time helping take care of the garden.

Are you growing a garden this summer? What are your garden finds?

Aww your garden is looking great! I’ll have to do an update of my tomato plants soon. They’re doing great, just no tomatoes yet.

We have several gardens but his has sadly been our worst year. Our plants have been struggling since we got a ton of rain in the beginning.
