Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites Recipe

(garlic and herb added)

To celebrate National Pretzel Day I decided to try my hand at making some soft baked treats. Pretzels are something I have never made before so I wanted to try my hand at them. Pretzels are one of things things you can make your own easily, add cheese and herbs and you’ve got a unique treat.

Soft Pretzels Recipe:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 package active dry yeast (or 2 1/4 teaspoons)
3 ounces unsalted butter, melted
2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
4 1/2 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
Vegetable oil

Combine the water, sugar, yeast, and butter in the bowl of a stand mixer and mix with the dough hook until combined. Let sit for 5 minutes. Add the salt and flour and mix.

Take the dough out of bowl and knead on a board.

Oil a bowl and put the dough in the bowl letting it get all oily.

Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 60 minutes. Then cut the dough and create long strips. The cut the rope to make your bites.

Boil your dough for 30 seconds.

Then you’ll want to put an egg wash on your pretzel dough.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Put your dough bites on a baking sheet and make sure your bites are not touching.

Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown and sprinkle with salt.

Serve with hot mustard or a cheese sauce. In the top picture I added my favorite organic herb seasoning and some garlic. You could always do something spicy. Just add your seasonings before you bake!

Thanks to Two Peas and Their Pod for the recipe.

I LOVE soft pretzels. I’ve seen so many recipes on Pinterest that I’ve pinned, but I haven’t tried any yet. These look fabulous and just might be the final push I need to finally do it!!!

I was wondering if you added extra seasoning? In the top pic it looks like they are heavily spiced (pepper or something). I just ask bc we LOVE Spicy, flavorful things!
    Thanks!!
