I can hardly believe that in just over 1 month we will be welcoming our third child into our family. Even though this is my third child I’m not quite sure of what we must have for her to come. I feel like all she needs are some onesies and diapers but know she needs a lot more than that.
So far I have:
- Onesies
- Long gowns
- diapers, wipes all diapering needs
- nursing cover, breast pump, endless amounts of bottles and pacifiers
- blankets, swaddlers
- Boppy
- car seat, stroller, and swing
What she needs:
- socks
- breast pump replacement parts
- some sort of bassinet or sleeper
I’m not quite sure what she needs if anything. What did you buy for baby? What do you think we still must have?
Only because we just are going through it ourselves here, we have found a few good pointers. It had been 12 years since we had a baby in the house. I forget how tiny those little washcloths are for them. Especially in summer with nursing, you might want to stock up. Babies do drip some and gets into the crooks of their sweet little neck. We found the better washcloths at BAbies R US to be far superior and usable compared to the little “doll” ones we had bought. these better ones are sold in a pack of 4 and so soft, and pretty reasonable priced considering you will use them for years for bathtime too.
Another thing we just found was the best burp cloths at WALMART! Was pleasantly surprised to find some really chic patterns…like brown and pink Zebra that is SO soft! One side is a sturdy cotton, the other a terry. So nice for only about 6 bucks. I’d get a good 3 packs.
Another purchase not available years ago when we had kids, is the crib rail bed cover. With baby B. now standing up in bed at not even 7 months, AND teething, we found a cover to for the top of the crib. Outer side is soft and under part is waterproof. This will save from B. biting the rails and not only ruining the crib but possibly getting stain and chemicals ingested from the wood stained so beautifully.
Light blankies for summer, a good nursing cover, mosquito netting for the stroller? There are so many products out there and most are overkill and clutter your home, but SO hard to not buy in to! T/hese were a few we knew we had to have…
We have WAY too many clothes for lil’ prindess. Def. get sucked in by the cute styles. Wish we would have used garage sales more.
We got on the swaddler bandwagon and realized that B. didnt like it. So wish we would have only picked up one or two. Some just hate swaddling and others are much more secure alll snuglged up. We wasted money on them too.
My daughter is a first time mom and surprised by leakage…so breast pads are a must. I loved using cloth washables, but she prefers disposables.
You sound like you are ALL set! Get some sleep now!
I still need to get a swing and bouncing chair. I borrowed my SIL last time, so I am looking on Craigslist for those two items 🙂
not a must have, but something that is useful to help them sleep is a white noise machine. I usually use an app on my iphone for wite noise.
I have a few different carriers but she doesn’t really like being in them, rather have my arms wrapped around her.
maybe a carseat canopy, unless you’d rather jus t throw a blanket over the carseat when you have to go out in the rain.
and make sure you have yourself a good nursing bra and some nursing tops.
I think your pretty much covered on waht you need, there are a lot of things that we got that we never sued and a waste of money.
Great tips everyone. I have the A+A swaddlers, and my sister sent me two sets of the mittens. We pretty much have all of these things.
Laundry soap we may need to get, and I think possibly a few more outfits. For sure we need some socks, haha!
I was going to say aden+anais swaddling blankets. They are amazing. I even use them as burp cloths. I didn’t really like those mittens they have for baby’s hands so they don’t scratch their face…but then my little one got about 10 scratches on her face in one day and I decided to get some little mittens.
How exciting, your almost down to your last month. It seems as though no matter how much we tried to be prepared for the arrival of our new ones there is always something we forget or still need. But it sounds like your pretty much set.
Sounds like you’re close to being all set.
I really like Baby Elephant Ears – even though her carseat was super padded, they helped keep her comfy in the beginning when she was tiny.
Also, a must for our little ones was soothing music – always lots of classical in the house, but “It’s a Big World” – Renee & Jeremy is perfect.
Charlie’s Soap for laundry.
A Sleepy Wrap.
aden+anais swaddlers.
Liquid Vitamin K – so we didn’t have to inject.
Those are musts on the top of my head 🙂
baby carrier(soothing), prepared meals,
