Giving To Charity This Holiday – Random Acts of Zhu

It’s not very often that 96 boxes of toys show up at your door and you are allowed to just give them away. Last year I participated in a very exciting program with Mom Select called Random Ats of Zhu. Last year we gave away 100 Zhu Zhu Pets and this year we not only gave away Zhu Zhu pets but all of the extra goodies kids would need to have a great time.Finding one charity to take all the goods proved to be harder than we expected but we ended up breaking up the donation and giving to many.

We ended up packing our CRV full of boxes, literally every inch was full. There was no more space! We were lucky enough to be able to give to our favorite charity Family Bridge.  We also were able to give to the children’s hospital and it was such a joy to give the kids gifts right before Christmas. I couldn’t imagine spending Christmas being sick in the hospital but our gift may have brought a smile to a child inside. That’s all we could also for. In total there were 96 boxes of Zhu Zhu pets all given out to charities around the Portland Metro Area. We were so happy to participate in Random Acts of Zhu and it felt good giving to those in need. My husband said he felt like Santa driving around town delivering toys to kids.

Are there ways that you and your family give back during the holidays? Did you do any random acts of kindness?

I belong to a group called Heart4Seniors. We send happy mail to senior citizens that need cheering for one reason or another. This year my family adopted a couple and sent them Christmas gifts. It is always neat watching my girls get excited making crafts and wrapping gifts for others!
