If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.
A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
When I think about Pooh I always think about my childhood love with the hugable character. I’m so glad that Disney is keeping the characters we love so well alive for our children. In this story Winnie the Pooh joins forces with his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood to help two of their own this Disney hand-drawn charmer. I love how in this movie it tells a story and the characters interact with words on the pages. It’s a captivating tale of Eeyore’s lost tail and everyone in Hundred Acre Wood goes to look for it.
The best supplement here is the very well done, but sadly very short, Winnie the Pooh and His Story Too. At only 9 minutes long this piece gives a quick overview of Pooh’s history from the stories A.A. Milne wrote for his son through to the current film.
Deleted Scenes Introduced by the Directors offers five excised or alternate pieces in various stages of animation.
Two Bonus Shorts are here: The Ballad of Nessie is the excellent short that played in front of WINNIE THE POOH during its theatrical run. The Mini Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Poohs Balloon is an odd little thing. It is simply the I’m a little black rain cloud scene from the 1966 short WINNIE THE POOH AND THE HONEY TREE with new narration from Cleese.
You can sing along karaoke style with the songs in the film via two methods: The Disney Song Selection will take you straight to any of the seven songs in the film or you can Sing Along With the Movie which will enable the lyrics to appear in subtitles while you watch the feature.
