Genetically Modified Foods: Should They Be Labeled?

Fun Foods for Families

Genetically Modified Foods…maybe you’re not the type of person who cares about such things, maybe you do care but feel helpless. The truth is, our food supply isn’t really controlled by us. Like cattle, we roam into stores and gather things off the shelves. The truth also is little is paid attention to the small print on the packaging and if you do read it, do you know what it means? Do you even care?

I’m not the typical American shopper so I often wonder about these things, what does the lady with a cart full of frozen foods think about the food she is eating? I like to think people just are educated and that’s what I try to do. Educate moms so they know what they’re feeding their families. It all starts with moms!

Lets go back to Genetically Modified Foods for a moment. The cellular structure and genetics have been altered. I feel like as a customer who wishes not to eat foods that have been altered I should know. The only way a consumer knows if a food is GMO or not is by buying organic foods with the certification.

Stores like Whole Foods are already labeling veggies and fruits but I feel like everyone should know.If they knew maybe they could make the choice, or even better become better educated about the food they put into their bodies.

Many Americans cringe when they hear the word “China” but did you know that even in China it is required that foods are properly labeled if they are genetically modified. Every other developed country required these labels and many states are trying to pass laws. Why do they require labeling? Do they know something we don’t or do we just rather look past it?

I’d rather my cellular structure stay organic.

Untouched, and unmodified.

They say you are what you eat….
