Our Ordinary Trip from Portland, Oregon to Disney’s Grand Californian

You are here: Home / Everything Disney / Our Ordinary Trip from Portland, Oregon to Disney’s Grand Californian

Everything Disney Family Travel With Kids

Disney was nice to give our family all free day passes to Disneyland and California Adventure. They also gave us one night for free at the Grand Californian plus we are staying an additional night to take it all in. Thanks Disney!

So we started our journey for Christmas to Southern California. We visited my family in California for the Holidays and had a late Christmas with my husbands family when we got back. Kaila is one lucky little girl and much of it can be credited to this ordinary blog. So we left Portland, OR at about 6:00am.

We arrived in Sacramento, CA around 5:00pm and left there the next morning at 7:00am. We made it to San Fernando Valley at about 1:30pm hoping to avoid traffic to Anaheim, CA. Traffic was not too bad and we arrived right at check-in time 3:00pm. something that Kaila will always remember, along with Kristin and I.

We left lovely freezing and rainy Portland, OR weather and arrived a day later, about 1,000 miles south in Anaheim, CA with 75 degree weather and a slight haze of clouds (could be con trails from all the planes, but regardless its awesome, someone up there is making sure our Christmas is great). Tomorrow the weather at Disneyland is supposed to be 80 degrees and clear and the same for the day after for California Adventure.

From Oregon to Central California (about 200 miles south of Stockton today)

Arriving at our Hotel the Disney Grand. And some views from our room.

Disney’s Grand Californian is literally just a walk away from the park. It’s the closest hotel and you can literally see inside the parks from your room. We found plenty of activity around the hotel including a character breakfast. There are a few pools which also have water slides, there’s also an activity center for the kiddos so moms and dads can have a nice break.

On select days, Guests of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa with valid Disneyland Park admission are eligible to enter the Park before it opens to the general public. It’s my our all time favorite Disney hotel!

Receive 2 FASTPASS Tickets!!

Stay at one of the 3 Disneyland Resort Hotels from June 3 to September 5, 2011 and receive 2 FASTPASS tickets for each person in your travel party, per stay. Use your ticket to dive in to The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, blast off with the newly re-imagined Star Tours, or ride other FASTPASS attractions. Separate theme park admission required.

That would be so fun, we can’t wait to take the kids to Disney {I’ve never been there!!}, is 3 too young to go? Remember, from Canada, it’s an expensive trip – think we should wait another year or two?
