We moved to California late last year but growing up in California I knew about the hidden gem sitting right off the coast. Catalina Island, one of America’s greatest destinations that not many people know about. It’s close to home yet far away that you get a vacation and there’s so much fun to be had all around the island.
This weekend my husband and I have the unique chance to check out many activities in the area. We will start our trip leaving on the Catalina Express in Long Beach, Ca. Once we arrive on the island we will be checking into one of the Catalina Island Vacation Rentals and can’t wait to get started right away with our first tour.
I have always wanted to take a kayaking tour and on Catalina Island there are so many water activities to enjoy. We will be taking the Kayak Tour “Journey to Frog Rock” with Descanso Beach Ocean Sports and can’t wait to explore the waters around the island. There’s also other fun tours we will be taking like the Nautilus Semi-Submarine Tour from Catalina Adventure Tours. They have a wide variety of boats and tours including a glass bottom boat tour.
The foodie in me is most excited about the local dining. Being an island off the coast I hope to see lots of seafood and I know my husband does too. Dinner at the Avalon Grille will be a culinary treat!
We start our next day with an exciting Jeep Eco Tour with the Catalina Island Conservancy. I can’t wait to see thee buffalo that I hear roam the island and see what else we can learn about the area. We end our tour with lunch at the Bluewater Avalon. A beautiful location right on the water and the chef has an impressive background so I am looking forward to enjoying this meal. After lunch we will explore the island including the Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Gardens and we plan on enjoying the rest of the evening together.
Our trip end with a tasty food tour and while I’ve never been on a food tour I have always wanted to. The food is just an addition to the experience and we can’t wait to see and do it all in Avalon, California!
Have you ever been to Catalina Island? Have any tips for us?
