Enjoy Dinner & A Movie This Valentine’s Day – Giveaway

discover vday

With moving and the holiday season past us, it is finally time that we as a married couple spend some quality quiet time together away from the kids. With both of our older kids in school I finally have the free time to work on what I need to get done so we have extra time to do things for us.

We are finally more settled in and are planning some things to do as parents with no kids.  We like to spend time alone and like to plan out extended trips such as overnight stays or day excursions. However, finding someone to watch 3 kids including a 19 month old is not always easy. That is why when we get the chance to enjoy it, we enjoy it!

We are always looking to save money and use group buying sites, such as Groupon to save money when making plans. Whether it’s for a movie, restaurant, or resort stay we always look for ways to save or get some kind of reward. There is always money to be saved by being a savvy shopper.

Not only can you shop for deals, but we also let our credit card make money for us. Through the end of March, Discover is now offering Discover cardmembers the ability to earn5% Cashback Bonus on up to $1,500 in purchases at restaurants and movie theaters. Besides receiving Cashback Bonus, there is also the option to use the rewards for partner gift cards from several restaurants and movie theaters such as AMC Theaters, Outback Steakhouse and Red Lobster.

Also right now there is an extra incentive for Discover cardmembers who shop online and are looking to earn more Cashback Bonus. ShopDiscover, the exclusive online shopping portal for Discover cardmembers, offers Cashback Bonus at more than 200 popular online retailers, including:

One of those great days to stay home, watch the olympics and enjoy stress free dining at home. We’ve adapted to ignoring the hype of Valentines day as we have our anniversary 2 days later. Works out beautifully – no difficulty getting reservations or parking and eating out has so much less stress

It sounds like I’ll be taking my daughter to sell girl scout cookies at a local winery on Valentine’s Day…not exactly how I’d usually spend a Valentine’s Day. ;-)

We are going to try to sneak away for lunch together while kids are in school, but 1. we have to see if we have the money and 2. There are new college recruits on campus that day, so hubby will have to get someone to fill in.

Thats my only plan, otherwise I will be alone with the kiddos.

I do not have plans for Valentine’s Day yet. My husband did ask if I wanted to make reservations at The Melting Pot, which is an hour away. I am not sure what else we might do, or even if our direction will change between now and then.
