Visiting Nature Made Headquarters – My Healthy Pledge For 2013

Last week I traveled to California where I met with health experts and scientists to learn all the vitamin essentials. I am proud to announce that I am a Nature Made VitaMelts brand ambassador and I’ll be sharing more about the product and my involvement with the brand. As part of the new brand ambassador team I visited Nature Made headquarters and even toured their factory.

While at Nature Made we heard from a number of experts. First we heard from Erin O’Malia Gehan the Vice President, Marketing who introduced us to the new Nature Made VitaMelts products. We the heard from John Welk the Director of Insights who told us a little more about how the VitaMelts products are unique to the market and how consumers will find it unique and another point that we also agreed with – tasty. We then met with Louis I. Ndife DVM PhD. who is the Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs at Nature Made.

From Louis I learned how many nutrients my body may not be getting for my diet. I also learned that even if I eat a healthy and whole diet there’s just some things I may be lacking. I personally really enjoyed the VitaMelts Vitamin D in creamy vanilla. It not only tastes like it’s a treat but also will help my body during these sunless winter months. After taking the VitaMelts B12 I feel great. I take one before a workout and can power through my workout and the rest of my day. I feel like there are so many essential vitamins my body was missing out on before.

Factory Tour:

Nature Made is all about safety and quality and you know when you buy a Nature Made product you are buying the best. See the process in which vitamins are made was such an eye opening experience.  We met with Jones Chan who is the Director of Research and Development. He took us through the process from conception to testing, to the final production which we saw on a full scale.

In the packaging facility ear plugs and eye wear and special equipment is required to protect the integrity of the products. Everyone inside i required to wear all of these things but we had fun suiting up and heading in. It was really interesting to see how all of process go together and the double checking to make sure it’s all correct. It’s that extra attention to detail and safety that we saw inside the facility tour.  Later on we saw inside one of the research laboratories where all of the testing and inventing happens. The testing procedures were all really neat one of the newest machines even had the ability to detect what a particle was. Totally CSI and totally COOL!

We also shot a web series for Nature Made, I’ll admit the camera made me nervous.

Here’s another shot taken by Sarah.

While on this trip I realized how many things my body is lacking. I realized that I want to rededicate myself to living a more healthy and more whole life. I was greatly inspired by the women I got to work with in the past week and I’m setting new health goals for this year. My healthy pledge for 2013 is to eat better, my fitness goal is to run a half marathon. I hope that in training for the half marathon I get fit and healthy in the process. I’ll also be sharing the videos we shot while in LA!

I’ll be sharing updates on how I’m meeting my health and fitness goals over the next few months and I’ll have more to share from Nature Made. I hope you’ll join me in a happier and healthier new year!
