So now with 3 kids and 2 of them still small, a double stroller is a must for us. We do a lot of outdoor activities such as going for walks, walking to the park, visiting our local zoo, sightseeing and much more that a safe stroller is a necessity. And when we are out and about for the whole day, it is even more important to have a stroller period. But the space and inconvenience of pushing and lugging around 2 separate strollers is a major hassle.

We were given a Kelty Speedster Swivel-Deuce to check out and share some feedback on. Having reviewed a couple of double strollers, we are very impressed with this awesome piece.

One thing that is important and is very first tested is what I like to call the shake and wobble test. This is simple. I setup the stroller, lock all locking parts and give it a good shake and wobble. This is important to get a feel on how it will perform while walking and in the case of this Kelty, how it will feel while using it for running. The Speedster passed perfectly, it is very sturdy, with no bowing or a feel of possible breaking, it has no wobble which is very important to us. It locks on the sides to hold the seat to the frame, but also its folding braces have a solid chunk of metal to lock the braces from collapsing to prevent folding. It’s lightweight and fully padded seat and frame along reflectivity markings make it great for the kids and safe for us.

Another very important feature for us is its folding size, easy and overall weight. Its rugged aluminum frame makes it weigh in at a light 26 lbs. while supporting a maximum weight of 100 lbs., which will last us for many years to come. And being a double stroller, it is expected to take up room but the Kelty Speedster folds fairly flat. And to make it into an even lower profile, the front and rear wheels detach very easy for even better storage.

It has a very nice and comfortable secure five-point, adjustable child’s harness and we know this because Brooklin wanted to keep it fastened. Both seats also recline independently for child comfort and functionality, like sitting at the park and letting the baby or kids rest up. It includes options such as parking brakes for each rear wheel, an adjustable-height handle, very large lower basket, 2 large rear pockets, and 2 pockets for drinks. Dont forget a run-a-way strap which is very important for any stroller and for running, it has a bell to alert people that we you are on the move. And for those sunny days, its giant sun/rain hood is great for the kids, and for an additional option you can pick up the Speedster Swivel Deuce Weather Shield which has clear windows and easy access for child removal. We will be picking one up for the rainy seasons.

Now we don’t just plan on using this stroller for transport only. Its other main purpose will be for running. The front wheel can lock straight for running those long straight a ways, and just as easy the front wheel can be unlocked to swivel freely for those curvy paths. Even with the wheel unlocked, you can still keep your pace going, just be careful and don’t push it too hard until you get a good feel for it.

Also important for Kristin, is its ease to fold up for transport. It breaks down in several easy steps. First you undo the orange side locks then the brace locks. Fold the seats forward and pull up on the fabric handles for easy folding. Finally secure it flat with the attached strap and its ready to be stored or put in the car. We are overall very happy with our Kelty Speedster. It fits in the back of our Pilot, even with the 3^rd row in use. We do have to remove the rear wheels, but they take less than a minute of that to remove and even less to put back on.

The only thing we will be doing is using clear plastic film for the foot part to keep it clean since we live in Oregon, which we are known for dirt and mud on the shoes. I will be using some clear film to keep it covered which can be purchased.

We are happy with this stroller and when Kristin can start to run again, she will be putting it to good use!
