Let me start this post off first by thanking the wonderful and creatively-beautiful minds behind the event. Maria Bailey from Mom Select. Leanne and Laura from Walt Disney World they truly put magic into the conference. Amy Lupold Bair her website is Resourceful Mommy Media, Susan and Janice from 5 Minutes for Mom, and finally Jennifer James with her wonderful resourceful website Mom Bloggers Club.
I didn’t know what to expect going into the conference on day one. The night before we enjoyed a nice dinner with all the media at the Wide World of Sports complex. They had a tailgate style dinner set up for us and we enjoyed the night with my sister Shannon and my nephew and brother-in-law. We arrived to dinner late although left with a sense of amazement. Disney really knows how to throw a party!
Conference Day 1
Guy Kawasaki was the first speaker, I remember the first day I met Guy. I received an email about a site called Alltop. This was years ago it’s really amazing how far social media has come over the past few years. Guy of course made us laugh but most of all he taught me a few things I didn’t know.
- Twitter is such a valuable tool and while yes everyone likes to know that your cat took a nice crap on your chair it’s also a great way to drive traffic to your website/blog/posts/articles. (whichever you may call it today)
- Tweet your posts 4 times a day. And always remember use West Coast Times it really is more efficient.
- Use Objective Marketer it allows you to schedule posts to Tweet.
- Set your website/blog/posts/articles to auto Tweet when they go live.

Celebrate Volunteerism
Giving ack to your community is so important and Disney is honoring those who do give back with the “Give A Day. Get A Disney Day” . Although Disney has long been involved in giving back. We were invited to the unveiling of the World’ Largest Canned Food Structure. Of course none better than Ty Pennington to “raise those balloons”.
The structure was comprised of more than 115,000 cans of food and were later donated to a local Florida charity.
Dinner and Concert
Dinner was held at Epcot which we spent the entire day exploring the park after the volunteers event. A surprise to us all since dinner was prepared by chef Robert Irvine from Food Network’s Dinner Impossible. The episode will air later this year and the food was inspired by all the World’s of Epcot. Items like mini take-out boxes of fried rice and low mien. Barbecue ribs and Mickey mac and cheese. Even gyros and salads!
“Even a small act can make a wave!!”
The concert after dinner featured Demi and Joe Jonas the quote above is something they said after their song. Catch the new Disney OCEANS movie later this year.
I really can’t put into words the feeling behind day one, it really set the tone for the entire conference.

I think it’s great that you got to have such an awesome experience. Thanks for sharing some of what you learned with us!!
Wow! That was awesome. I loved your montage, too. Is muvee.com the site you used to make the montage? Very cool, Kristin!!!
I WISHED that we were able to hang out! It was SO crowded I didn’t even see the same women twice. If I would have had access to a phone with Twitter/email I would have contacted you and met up with you.
I missed out on dinner and the concert that night. We chose to stay in the MK and play, however I love Robert Irvine and Dinner Impossible!!! That would have been AWESOME!
Oh well, hopefully Disney will do this again next year! I hear Irvine is at Disney every year doing a show. Here’s hoping to meeting up with you next year and Irvine!! : )
JoJo I’m so sad I missed you. I saw you guys pass me but with all the chaos I didn’t stop you. I really hope we can do this again, I’ll so be there!
Sounds like a fabulous time…looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!
Sounds like you had a good time! I’m jealous you got food by the Dinner Impossible guy! I love him!
Sounds and looks like you had a great time! i’m so glad that you had the chance to go!
