30 Days of Change – Parenting

by Kristin on February 1, 2010

30daysofchangeAmy from Resourceful Mommy has issued a challenge, 30 days of change.

Today’s challenge is parenting. Over the past few weeks I’ve watched at the dynamics between my daughter and her best friend has changed. Kaila overall is going through some growing up. Again testing her limits and my limits as a parent. I’m hoping that as I begin to change maybe that will reflect in positive ways in my children, and their father.

Tomorrows challenge:

Throughout the entire day tomorrow, say the word “no” to your children as infrequently as possible.

Can you do it?

Change is good for us all, so I’m anxious to see where this challenge may take me. Want to join in? Link up at Resourceful Mommy and of course follow her on Twitter @ResourcefulMom

I’m going to try…I really try to redirect first before saying no.

That’s a hard one with a ten year old…She is grounded right now from talking back/smarting off, all those things that pre teens and teenagers do…Although I could redirect her….She wants to do something she’s not supposed to do while she’s grounded, I can tell her why don’t you do such-n-such instead. Ok..I’ll try that!

Kelsie on the other hand, I hardly ever have to tell her no, for some reason she is my easy child.

That is a great idea! I personally have been trying to limit my use of No because it doesn’t work on my kids – I use it too much!
