Giveaway Ends Jan 12th
Did you know the most common childhood disease is tooth decay? Teaching our children about proper oral hygiene is so important, and studies have shown that poor oral hygiene can lead to other health problems.
Now that Brooklin is teething and Kaila is growing into her childhood we stress the importance of oral care to both our children. Is getting a stubborn 4 year old to brush their teeth easy? No! But with some easy tips and tricks and the right products it sure makes my job and hers easier. We love the Oral B toothpaste line. I’ve used and trusted it since Kaila was a baby, and now that she’s older they’ve come out with toothpaste for toddlers and children. The infant gum cleaner is something we also use, I believe that by starting at a young age children are more able to cope with the regiment of hygiene. Knowing that it’s something you have to do, it then becomes a part of the day. Children begin to practice healthy habits on their own.
In Oregon among third graders the prevalence of tooth decay is 66% and that’s just where I live. Oral-B Stages and Scrapblog.com just teamed up to help children and parents document Smile-Stages. Smile-Stages are simply important milestones in your child’s oral heath such as baby’s first smile, or the first tooth lost. They also focus on important holidays such as Halloween to aid in helpful fun reminders to keep up the brushing and flossing.

Oral-B Stages Tips to Make Brushing Fun
· Brush your teeth with your child to set a good example. It also helps your child to learn by watching and imitating you.
· Choose toothbrushes and toothpaste with popular kids’ characters, like Oral-B Stages Winnie the Pooh or Disney Princesses, to help establish positive oral care routines with familiar friends.
· Sing your child’s favorite song, like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” or play a song from their favorite singer for the two minutes while they are brushing their teeth.
· Recite your child’s favorite nursery rhyme, like the “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” while they are brushing their teeth.
· Making your child’s brushing routine fun will encourage proper habits early and help prevent oral care issues later in life.

I motivate them by talking about oral hygiene and overall hygiene. I show them products that are available and allow them to choose their favorites. We show them how to brush and practice good hygiene.
I let them pick out their toothbrush and toothpaste. I’ll buy what ever they want as long as they will use it. They usually pick the electronic ones.
