There are many things you could get an expecting mom for Christmas like soft slippers, a foot massage device, or a nice coffee mug. But for that mother who plans to breastfeed, nothing can compare to a Medela breast pump. I use my Medela  Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump Backpack during all my travels and times when I am away from my baby. I also use it to pump extra milk for Del while I am gone. As a breastfeeding mother and college student, the portability and operation is great. I couldn’t be happier.

bagEvery Tuesday and Thursday I pack up my backpack and head to my classes at Portland State University, and bring my Pump In StyleAdvanced Breastpump Backpack. I time everything so I have time to head over to the woman’s Resource Center to pump. I always feel comfortable there, and its the only place on campus I like to pump. I thought pumping on campus might possibly force me to not want to breastfeed because I had heard horror stories about not being able to do it and some people even said it would be hard. With my Medela pump I can easily go and pump and get to my next class, it’s easy to us and compact. No one knows what the backpack is, and I can still carry cold breast milk in the upper area with the provided bag and ice pack. I also have to lug around textbooks, and the Medela Pump In Style is light and easy to carry.

As you can see everything fits right inside and all the controls are right in front. I don’t use the double pump (although you can) so you can plug it off.

bagBrooklin is completely breastfed, and since I am able to pump at school Brooklin, is also bottle fed by her daddy, Del.  He’ll even tell you as long as he has breast milk, keeping Brooklin while I’m at school isn’t a problem. I love that my Medela breast pump also came with a cooler, bottles, and ice pack. All of it easily fits inside the top of the backpack.

The Pump-In-Style Advanced breast pump also has a 2-Phase pump technology that mimics a baby’s natural nursing pattern. It helps to make pumping easy.

If you’re looking for a gift for an expecting mother, or family a Medela breast pump is a valuable choice.

Medela was gracious enough to give me this pump for review which I was at the time, looking at this unit for purchase.  The actual unit I was given was a brand new unit to review. This is an account of my real use and opinion.

I love Medela breast pumps, infact I have one and have used it for 3 plus years. I had to pump and not nurse my older 2 boys because they were both preemies (29 weeker and 33 weeker) and never “caught on” to nursing. I just recently (in October) had my 3rd little boy (full term) he nurses GREAT but there are times that I need to pump and I would LOVE a new pump.
