The Wii Fit is great for anyone in the family. We have all been using the Wii Fit for exercising and ways to stretch, and also have fun.
A neat thing about the Wii Fit and the balance board is that you can import your Mii and tie it into your workouts. The Wii fit will have you step onto the supplied balance board and do some different things to determine your real weight, and along with your height it will determine your approximate body mass index. It will then adjust your Mii to size.
There are 4 main categories to choose from which are yoga, strength training, balance, and aerobics. There is a total of 48 different games to play. You start with a limited number of them unlocked but as you play you earn credits that unlock other activities and games.
Since Kaila, Del, and I all have our individual characters, we also all have our choice on activities we each do. Kaila likes to play the Aerobics games which has some games easy enough to play and she is 4 and a half. Some of the games she likes to play is the hula hooping, basic stepping using the fit board, and a simple running game. Del prefers the yoga category and has actually started taking a 1 hour in-class yoga session a week to go along with his individual yoga sessions on the Wii Fit. I try and use the strength training, but also find myself having fun with Kaila playing the Aerobics games.
Nintendo also just released the Wii Fit Plus which has totally expanded the Wii Fit. You can literally make your own routines. Which is nice, especially for Del he can’t do all of the yoga poses, and he can create his own yoga routines. Sometimes men aren’t meant to bend certain ways. What I love about the Wii Fit Plus is that you can design routines based on specific needs. You can choose from routines like warm-up, relax, or stretch your shoulders and back. You can also use this feature to create a good workout and change and add workouts as need
Get this! The Wii Fit Plus also has a calorie check feature. It will also tell you how much it will take to burn off the calories you’ve eaten. The Wii Fit Plus will also tell you how much activity you need to burn off certain foods and this is represented by METS. METS will show you how many Wii activities it would take to equal real sports such as taking a hike or golfing. And for those of us who need a little extra help they have the Change Trainer which is a virtual trainer to help you through your routine.

What I love about the Wii, and Wii Fit Plus is that they we’re made with the whole family in mind. There’s games, routines and activities that any of us can do, except for Brooklin (there is a feature on the Wii Fit Plus that will allow you to weigh items such as babies or small parts by using your weight and added weight very sensitive level.) I call Nintendo the all around family company because there’s something for everyone. Making a great Christmas gift, to give or get!
Nintendo now has the Wii Fit Plus bundle, which includes all games and the balance board.
Nintendo was kind enough to provide my family and I with the Wii Fit & balance board and the Wii Fit Plus.

I used my parents wii fit at their house–I love it!! I really want to get one…maybe for Christmas?!
Awesome review, Kristin!!
You have just made up my mind girl!
I have been debating on the wii for months and months – it sounds like it would be great for me and for the family. Especially with our long cold winters, we’d still get some exercise when you could freeze outside in a matter of seconds.
Really, I didn’t know there was that many options, thanks for the great review!
