Decreased Fetal Activity 27 Weeks

DSCN4297 Today the baby took a break, or at least I think so. Maybe she was just tired up all night while I slept, who knows. I noticed her decreased activity this morning when she didn’t wake up after I ate. We were out walking around shopping after so I figured she was just keeping quite. Only after lunch did it hit me. She hadn’t moved all day! Del and I immediately went into panic. I weighted the pros and cons of going to the E.R. like I’d get another ultrasound, and maybe by chance she’d have her legs open and we can confirm that she, really is a she. Then a thought came to us. You can hear the baby’s heartbeat by now without a Doppler. You should have seen Delfino standing at my belly with Kai’s play stethoscopes, yeah he actually tried both of them. She finally woke up about 15 minutes ago and now I’m left with the picture in my head of Delfino. Too bad he’s not that good of a sport when it comes to my blog. So did anyone else ever notice decreased fetal activity?

Oh my goodness – I had an experience like that when I was 29 or 30 weeks. I went in for my pre-natal check up and it was late in the day – probably like 4:30 and the midwife asked me how many kicks I had counted that day and I said that I didn’t remember him kicking at all but that I was really busy all day (I am a lawyer) and I probably wasn’t paying close enough attention. She freaked and sent me to the hospital to get hooked up to the fetal monitor. Nate was ok, he was just resting and had been really moving around earlier that day – like 5 in the morning.

Nothing major sticks out in my mind, but there were days where Charlie was super lazy. I think part of it had to do with her cramped living space too though ;)

I had a panic like that. I remember thinking that something was wrong too. I went to research and so I ate and sat down and the baby went into a flurry.

The doc tried to tell me that because I was busy it lulled the baby to sleep…but still yet I panicked.

I noticed decreased activity during my entire last trimester of this last baby. I didn’t worry too much – I had so much going on at the time. The doctor asked me at one of my appointments if I did kick counts and I said, “Seriously? I don’t have time for kick counts” So he made me lay there for an hour and count. It was borderline so he did some “feeling” about and said the baby was larger than it should be. Turns out he had literally run out of room. This baby was over 1 1/2 pounds heavier than my heaviest child and when he came out even his ears had folds in them from being squished. It took 2 months for them to become “unfolded.”
So – maybe you have a sumo wrestler in your belly too??

The bigger I got the less they moved. They are just so big and have no room to move.
