Wraps and Slings (plus giveaway)

Child wearing, what’s the big craze about anyhow? I have heard many things about wraps and slings, but who knows how to choose one? I was one of those Mom’s with the uncomfortable front baby carriers. The ones that hurt almost every part of your body.
Slings offer many advantages over those old fashioned carriers, you can move around and complete daily tasks with your baby right by your side. Are these slings actually helpful to babies? Recent research shows that babies who lie in slings can create back problems. The support is not evenly distributed causing stress on a baby’s back. I have heard many times that these slings can become uncomfortable or if not worn properly dangerous. As you bend over what happens to your baby? The baby will swing out away from your body, and if not tightly attached the child could be bumped something. The actual danger of the baby being curled so tightly their chest and chin are together. This can cause re-breathing, causing the baby to have to work harder to breathe. Re-breathing can have serious side effects one being possible SIDS Beware of tripping with slings, there is a case where a mother tripped and the infant fell out of the sling. Know your limits when wearing a sling. These slings to many Mom’s are a dangerous threat, and before you purchase one please do your research. Not everything is bad about slings, if positioned carefully the comfort and boding between baby and parent is joyful. Many parents tell of happy experiences with slings
How about wraps how are these different? Wraps carry your child on your chest. The child is better supported causing no hip or back damage. There is no risk of re-breathing since your child is held on your chest not tightly bundled in a sack. You can do anything with a wrap and even family members can use it to put your child to sleep. Us Mother’s know how well a child is put to sleep on your chest, they easily doze off with no fuss. Wraps are perfect for these moments, and you can also breast feed while using a wrap. Since your child is positioned right on your chest breast feeding is a breeze. You also will decide who interacts with your child, you know those pesky strangers who love to touch children? You can keep them away by keeping your child close to you. Parents who use wraps also feel more in tuned with their children when wearing a wrap. Since your child is not far away there is no need for crying, instead you learn your child’s facial expressions and gestures. The upright position may will also aid in digestion, so parents with colicky babies look out! You should still use caution while cooking with wraps. You can find many great wraps at Sleepy Wrap

I am SOO excited about this give-a-way, that’s a great idea to buy other sleepy wraps for my friends. I swear being pregnant is in the water here; pretty much everyone my husband and I are close with right now are pregnant or trying.
